DVR woes

DVR is not that hard, right?
Then can someone tell me why The Real Housewives of New Jersey,
records constantly.
Even though it's set to first run only.

Oy Vey.

Back to Quest in the morning for more blood work.
Lets hope this goes better than on Monday. :D

Today = Fail

Fail 1 :
Woke up at 7 and fell back asleep until 8.

Fail 2 :
Quest Diagnostics tells me that my blood work must be completed between the hours of 6 and 9 am. it was 10:15 when I arrived. No, Dr. P. did not tell me this. Surprise, surprise.
Quest does not have the other tests that I need to take - home tests.

Fail 3:
Trying to be super productive, I begin packing up our junk. I pick up the box and the bottom falls out. I get to repack the drawers as I cannot find anything but scotch tape - which ironically I found on the floor thanks to my p.o.s. box.

Fail 4 :
Phone call to second Quest consists of...
me: "Hi, I was calling to see if you had any salivary cortisol tests."
woman: "cortical tests?"
me: "No, salivary cortisol tests."
woman: "Thyroid tests?"
me: "No SALIVARY CORTISOL Tests."
woman: "What tests? thyroid cortisol tests?"
me: "No, salivary like saliva."
woman: "Eye? pink eye?"
me: "SALIVA, like spit you know? salivary cortisol tests."
woman: "OH thyroid cortisol tests?!"
me: "NO SALIVARY, LIKE SALIVA, CORTISOL TESTS."
woman: "OHHH, ok salivary cortisol tests?"
me: "YES!!!- sigh of relief"
woman: "Don't you just spit in a bucket for that?"
me: "I don't know, I'm guessing not just any bucket. That's why I'm calling."
woman: "Ok, we have them."
me: "Ok thank you, where are you located?"
woman: "On B.B. Downs. near the bus bench"
me: "The bus bench???? Which bus bench?"
woman: "On the corner of Holly and B.B. Downs."
me: "Ok, thank you" -Hang up- "Holy shit, that was intense"

Fail 5:
Drove all the way to Payless to discover that they have ugly shoes.

and it's only 5 o'clock.
lol

Hope your day was more successful than mine,
K.

Ft. DeSoto

Gorrrrrgeous day at Ft. DeSoto!
we got a little lost, but it was definitely worth it.

We went kayaking - we saw a few porpoises playing,
went swimming at the beach - found a million live sand dollars
and had some wickedly strong pineapple martinis

Perfect day :)
K.
the rainbow that appeared after it rained for about 5 seconds -perfect! - it was sooo bright!

a robbery took place tonight

Less than half a mile from our house,
there is a Tattoo parlor.
Tonight, a man was shot in the face at that Tattoo parlor,
an armed burglary.

We were driving to Publix when we saw about 10 cop cars surrounding the place,
but having heard that multiple drug sweeps were being conducted
we assumed that it was just another drug bust

This is the third armed robbery in our area in a short amount of time.
The first was less than a mile from Pat's work - an armed bank robbery
The second was about half way between work and home - an armed Subway robbery
This tattoo parlor robbery is the third in about 3 months.
It's terrifying to live around such violence.

It's gotten to the point were its too dangerous to go outside at night.
Even within our community, a car was stolen and one was broken into and a GPS was stolen.

I am so glad to be moving.
This area is so sketchy
The ghetto is directly behind us, but the surrounding area doesn't look that bad.

Stay safe everyone, these are some bad times

Dreams

Sometimes I wish I could video record my dreams.
I had a dream about our little house, and it ended up being gorgeous,
but now I can't remember anything about it

Not really sure what house I was dreaming about though,
I've never even been inside in real life.

I need to finish my Spanish today - yes MORE Spanish
and take my second forensics test this week - it's about hair, fiber, glass, and the microscope lol

Ft. DeSoto tomorrow! Hopefully, it won't rain, and the humidity will disappear.
Can't wait to kayak!

Have a great weekend!

RIP Mrs. Janoff

A teacher from Pine View died on Monday. A teacher that everyone loved.
It makes me feel terribly old knowing that the people I used to know are dying already.
I don't really know what else to say.

Rest in Peace Mrs. Janoff,
My thoughts are with your family

Wedding Plans

I'm already becoming terribly overwhelmed
I cannot believe how many choices I have to make
I'm a Libra - choices and Libras are not friends.

Beautiful Waterfront location OR cheaper more romantic tent to be decorated how I want?
Green and Yellow OR Black and White?
Sit Down OR Buffet?
Calla Lilly's OR Hydrangeas OR Chrysanthemums?

Oy Vey. This is nuts, and I haven't even started yet.

RIP John Lamensdorf

I didn't really enjoy high school,
I didn't really take the time to get to know the people in my class.
I was akward but ok.

Now,
I wish I'd taken the time to get to know those people, more than superficially.
I wish I could have pushed past my self concious exterior and talked
I wish I would have been less focused on my close friends and realized the value of those I didn't know.

John Lamensdorf,
A kid from my graduating class died last week.
He had just graduated from NYU as a film major.
He was electrocuted on the set of a film he was working on.
Although I didn't have a strong bond with him, I feel like I've really lost something
I feel like this is the beginning of many more tragic stories to come.
It's hard to know that someone you grew up with is gone.

Rest in Peace John.
